The Resort Trend Report

Resort trends from from

With the big three designers now branching out to far-flung locations, Chanel in Dubai; Louis Vuitton in Monaco; and Dior in Brooklyn, of all places, designers with smaller budgets are taking advantage of showing their spring and summer collections at many different locations. With almost 150 labels now showing Resort dress, there is plenty to watch.

Now a lot of the designs are really, really over the top, but mixed in is some good street-worthy designs and what interests me are the longer running trends. Boho is back, graphic stripes are on the rise, and skirts just keep getting longer (check my article on midi skirts) reminiscent of the 50s and the Grace Kelly look.

Florals and stripes got timely updates, too. But the developing story we’ve really got our eye on is the season’s nouveau bohemian mood. Our pick for look of the season goes to Lanvin’s silk peasant blouse and long prairie skirt, worn to perfection by suddenly-everywhere model Jamie Bochert.
