One reason that Merida is such a magical city is the number and quality of festivals and events everyday in Merida. Whenever you are here, there is something special to see and experience. Here are just a few of the daily events:

Sunday Handicraft markets – Hidalgo and St Lucia parks 9-9 (see map)

Handicrafts at Casa de las Artesanias  Calle 63 between Calle 64 & 66, Open 10-2. This is a state-run store occupying the front of an old monastery (gallery in back). Handicrafts are high quality.

Monday – city tour, dancing in main plaza at 9pm

Tuesday – big band music (Salsa night) 830pm Santiago Park, Calle 59×72,

Trovo night at Olimpo 9pm

Wednesday – Enjoy shows at Olimpo at 9pm

Thursday – St Lucia park 9pm, Calle 60×55

Serenata Yucateca (Yucatecan Serenade)
This is the defining serenade of Merida and has been performed every Thursday night for over 40 years. Parque Santa Lucia, home to the Alter of the Trova is the center of Merida’s romantic heart. If you are a visitor, make sure to see this particular serenade. It is well worth becoming a part of your first memory of Merida.

Friday –

Saturday –  Plaza Grande, Calle 60×61, 9pm to 2am

En El Corazón de Mérida (In the Heart of Merida). Live music, including jazz, salsa and trova, held on various stages around the Plaza Grande. Many of the streets leading to the Plaza are closed to all but foot traffic, and the restaurants and bars put their chairs and tables outside in the streets. This is a night designed for that Saturday night date, but they’ve got all of the shops open for business too.
